maryewang pet portraits - commission a pet portrait

A painting captures the spirit of your pet's personality. I begin my painting process by collecting photos from you of your pet and your pet's environment. I then conduct an interview with you by phone or email. During this meeting I like to get stories from you about your pet. Stories that give me a little insight into your pet's personality, such as when and how your pet arrived in your life, what activities your pet likes, what are some favorite toys, people, etc. Anything that you would like to share that tells me something about your pet.

After our meeting I will email some initial rough sketches for approval

The final portraits are done in acrylic paint on gallery wrapped canvases with painted edges.

My beloved cat Midnight passed away some years ago. I had a few old pictures of him and Mary took one and turned it into a beautiful paint, that now hangs in my living room. I will definitely be getting more painting done by Mary in the future.

I am the proud owner of the portrait of "Oliver." Oliver was my little buddy. He got his wings in January 2013, 2 months before his 20th birthday. It was a very difficult and traumatic period in my life...I am so grateful to have such a beautiful memorial to my Ollie Boy. When I lost Oliver it was so hard to cope with knowing that I would never see his beautiful little face, hear his soothing purrs, be greeted by his raspy meow, wake-up to his cold wet nose sniffing my ear or fall asleep with him curled up next to me. Thank you Mary for giving me such a wonderful gift! You have captured Oliver's inner lion and personality...I look at this amazing painting and I feel like he is still here!
